Hello, lovely supporters, and Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours! The wonderful season of giving is now upon us, and I want to take a bit of your time to explain my experience with trying to fundraise on Facebook (spoiler – it’s frustrating). Those of you who’ve been with us from the beginning know that we are mega-grassroots…it doesn’t get much smaller and more every-dollar-counts than us. That’s why each of you matters so much to RtR. Ever since I made this nonprofit page on FB, I’ve been trying to get it verified by FB as a nonprofit, which shouldn’t be too hard, considering I sent them our 501(c)3 letter 4 separate times with our EIN # 46-1097783. Alas, no response from them the 2nd-4th times, and then the whole conversation deleted in our inbox after that. But, it’s ok. Turns out FB keeps 5% of all donations made through it, so that’s not great for an org like us. We still need your support even though it’s not as easy to create an online fundraiser or share a Giving Tuesday effort as other nonprofits.

We don’t do the kind of work that is out in the open; it raises ethical questions to have any pictures or video of our classes, and our work doesn’t necessarily have the “sex appeal” as that of some other charities…no matter how many incredibly sexy instructors I bring on the team.

It’s because of this that we need word of mouth. We need you. Giving Tuesday is coming…it’s November 27th. We want to start new classes in Tulsa and OKC with some bright new faces.
